The Sooke Potholes - this Regional Park is located 3km. up Sooke River Rd from the cottage. Phenomenal scenery, swimming and hiking. Also accessible via the Galloping Goose Trail. www.crd.bc.ca/parks/sookepotholes/

Galloping Goose Trail - an old rail line converted into a hiking/biking trail that runs more than 100 km. from Victoria to Leechtown a former Gold Rush Community. A basically flat, easy trail with numerous access points offers spectacular views of the Ocean, Lakes, the Sooke Basin, river and Rail Trestles. East Sooke Regional Park - a huge ocean front park with over 60 km. of choice west coast trails and spectacular vistas only 20 minutes by car from the cottage. www.eastsookepark.com
Whiffen Spit Park - a bird watchers paradise located in Sooke with an easy trail and lovely ocean, harbour and East Sooke Views.
Sooke Rotary Pier and Marine Boardwalk - One of the latest additions to the Sooke waterfront is the new marine boardwalk, stretching along the waterfront from Murray Rd. to Ed Macgregor Park in the heart of Sooke.
Beaches Between Sooke and Port Renfrew - over a dozen stunning beaches are located between Sooke and Port Renfrew (1 hour by car). The accesses range from easy and short to difficult and steep.
